LRMC To Host Community Education Program

Monday, August 3 2009

Lakeland Regional Medical Center will be hosting a free community education program on Tuesday, August 11 on Uterine Fibroids.

An alarming 20 to 40 percent of women ages 35 to 55 have symptomatic uterine fibroids. The incidence is twice as common among African-American women. Fibroid symptoms present themselves in different ways, including, but not limited to, heavy menstrual bleeding, painful periods, pelvic pressure, frequent urination, pain during intercourse and lower back pain.

Women who attend the program will learn more about the options available to women who suffer from uterine fibroids, including nonsurgical treatment options.
