LRMC Creates Flu Season Visitation Guidelines

Monday, October 19 2009

Lakeland Regional Medical Centers first priority is the safety and care of its patients, visitors and employees. With that in mind, and with the flu season in full effect, LRMC has made the decision to amend its visitation policy, effective Wednesday, October 21, to ensure the health and well-being of all those who enter our facility.

Visiting hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and will be strictly enforced. New patient visitor guidelines are:

No more than two visitors per patient will be allowed.

Children under the age of 18, except those seeking treatment, will not be permitted to visit. This includes siblings in Labor and Delivery, Maternity Suites, High Risk Perinatal Center, NICU, and Pediatrics.

Visitors who are sick will not be permitted to visit.

Tours of our maternity areas have also been suspended. In addition, people coming to the hospital emergency department to receive treatment for themselves should avoid bringing children with them, for their own safety.

All visitors are asked to practice proper hand hygiene before entering and leaving patient rooms. Hand sanitizing stations are located throughout the hospital. Experts at LRMC continue to work closely with federal, state and local public health officials to ensure the health and safety of all of our patients, staff and visitors.
