LRMC Discontinuing Use of Latex Balloons

Tuesday, February 22 2011

In order to provide a safe and healing environment for Lakeland Regional’s patients, visitors and staff, effective immediately, LRMC is discontinuing the use of latex balloons within the facility.  Latex is a common allergy and sensitivity among many who enter the hospital; and the substance can cause severe reactions.

It is our hope that community members will serve as Lakeland Regional’s partners in this effort.  Because visitors bring and patients receive gifts of well-wishes, often consisting of balloons, please be mindful of LRMC’s new rule.  Non-latex balloons are available at LRMC’s Gift Shop, as well as many local businesses, and are an appropriate and permitted substitute.

At Lakeland Regional, our mission is to improve lives by delivering exceptional health care.  The elimination of latex balloons from LRMC’s campus is another way we are doing so.  Thank you ahead of time for your cooperation and understanding.
