LRCC’s Graham Greene, MD, to Serve as Health System’s Chief Academic Officer

We are pleased to announce that Graham Greene, MD, of Lakeland Regional Cancer Center (LRCC) will take on the expanded role of chief academic officer for the health system’s graduate medical education program, while continuing to oversee his clinical duties within the cancer center.

Dr. Greene is the leader of LRCC’s Prostate Cancer Center of Excellence and a Fellowship Trained Urologic Oncologist.  He has published numerous works and has participated in multiple clinical trials during his career.  Dr. Greene is certified by the American Urologic Association and a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.

“I am honored to be a part of Lakeland Regional’s transformation into a teaching hospital,” said Dr. Greene.  “We know that the nation’s top hospitals are teaching hospitals, and I am excited to offer our patients and this community greater access to that level of care, innovation, technology and research.”

Dr. Greene has been a part of the LRCC team for three years.  Prior to, he worked at the University of Arkansas, where he was Chief of Urologic Oncology for 10 years and held the position of the Robert Woods Bass Chair in Urologic Oncology.  He received his medical degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he also completed an internship and residency and served as the Chief Resident in Urology.  He completed his fellowship in urologic oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, University of Texas, in Houston.

“Dr. Greene has been serving in a leadership role as the chair of our GME Taskforce and also has a deep understanding of and experience in an academic medical center through his work at the University of Arkansas,” said Elaine Thompson, PhD, FACHE, President and CEO.  “As a result, he has the knowledge to help guide Lakeland Regional through this process, and I am happy he will continue to share his expertise as chief academic officer.”
