Two years after sponsoring the historic 2008 “Stand Up to Cancer” fundraiser that raised more than $100 million for cancer research, Lakeland Regional Cancer Center is once again partnering with WTSP-TV (10 Connects) to rally the public around the goal of eradicating cancer.
Tune in on September 10 at 8 p.m. to watch as CBS News anchor Katie Couric talks with patients and scientists about the potentially life-saving research being conducted as a result of this effort. The show will feature a segment with LRCC’s Dr. Kris Guerrier, radiation oncologist, and Dr. Richard Boothby, gynecologic oncologist, discussing some of the technological advances that are currently being implemented here. In addition there will be performances by legendary recording artists and appearances by stars from television, movies and sports.
“Stand Up to Cancer” will be simulcast on CBS, NBC, ABC and select cable networks, but you must watch WTSP (CBS) locally to see Drs. Guerrier and Boothby. Be sure to tune in, be informed, and get involved, because working together we can all make a difference in the fight against cancer.
