Lakeland Regional Employees Help Make the Holidays Bright Through Toys for Tots

Tuesday, December 13 2011

Action heroes, tea sets and bicycles were plentiful at Lakeland Regional Medical Center on December 9, as hospital employees joined together to enhance the lives of children in the Lakeland area this holiday season. The annual toy drive raised gifts, to include 27 new bicycles, which will be donated to Toys for Tots.

John Riccobono (biomedical equipment control coordinator), Jeff Payne (VP Human Services), Tim Mercier (Facilities and Support Services Director), Elaine Thompson (President and CEO) display two of the 27 bicycles LRMC employees donated to Toys for Tots.

“This was the least we could do during a time when many families are struggling to make ends meet,” said John Riccobono, a biomedical equipment control coordinator at Lakeland Regional, who spearheaded a hot dog sale for employees to raise money for the bicycles. “I believe every kid dreams of having a bike.  This was one small way we were able to join together as an organization to ensure that happens for a few more children this Christmas.”
