Free Victorian Tea Event for Breast Health Awareness 2011

In recognition of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lakeland Regional Cancer Center and Lakeland Regional Medical Center are sponsoring a Victorian Tea on Friday, October 7, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, located at 175 Lake Hollingsworth Drive in Lakeland.

Emceeing the event this year is Nancy Cattarius of Hall Communications. Featured speakers include Dr. Shahla Masood, Professor and Chair, Department of Pathology, University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, who will answer questions regarding the trends in breast cancer diagnosis and therapy. Dr. Martha Lima, Radiologist, Radiology and Imaging Specialists, will provide guidance on new technology, especially as it pertains to positron emission mammography (PEM). And former patient Jennifer Dennis will share her inspirational story. The program will also feature a physician panel for questions and answers.

Registration opens at 1:00 p.m., and a Healthy Woman Expo will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. A variety of booths related to women’s health will be staffed to answer questions and provide information.

This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limited. Registration is required by calling (863) 687-1400 by Thursday, October 6. Light refreshments will be served during the program.
