“When I first started at LRMC, I knew no one and had a family crisis,” said Cheri Page, Secretary, Orders Receiving. “Ramona took care of me like no one ever has. She’s not a woman of many words, but her heart speaks very loudly.”
In her spare time, Ramona buys plants that are on clearance, with the hopes of nursing them back. “Some do, and some just die,” she said. She wishes she had a green thumb! Ramona recalls that Mary Jane Seymour gave her an ivy after her father passed. Ramona recognizes that as the “only ivy that has lived for me.”
“Ramona is one of the most giving people I know,” said Jenny Scott, co-Team Leader, Preadmission Testing/Orders Receiving. “She sacrifices herself every day so that others in the department can be happy.”
Professionally, Ramona considers becoming Gerontology certified as one of her achievements.
Ramona attributes her work ethic to her husband of 28 years. Because of her father’s Parkinson’s and COPD, she developed the inspiration to become a nurse. Ramona has three wonderful children and four grandchildren ages one, nine, 13 and 16. She enjoys going to her granddaughters’ softball and grandsons’ football games. In the recent years, Ramona is finally becoming interested in building room additions – her husband’s occupation.
“This is the best department because we treat each other with respect,” Ramona said. “They’re my family.”
Ramona has been with Lakeland Regional since January of 1999. She also previously worked at LRMC in the ER from 1981-1987. Thank you, Ramona, for the impact you’ve made and continue to make.
