Battle of the Belts Public Service Announcement to Air on CW44
Thursday, October 25 2012
Lakeland Regional’s Trauma Support Department is proud to be a part of the “Battle of the Belts” Program in Polk County, partnering with All Children’s Hospital and local high schools to create awareness for student drivers to buckle up for safety.
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for American teenagers. Teens have a higher fatality rate in motor vehicle crashes than any other age group and the lowest safety belt use rates of all drivers. This rate is even lower when there are multiple teens in the vehicle.
According to All Children’s Hospital, the Battle of the Belts program was initiated to change these statistics and increase safety belt use among teenagers. The goal of this campaign is for high school students to convince their peers to always wear their safety belts.
During the month of October, a “Battle of the Belts” public service announcement, which was inspired by Ashton Sharett and Alexandra Seals of Lake Gibson High School, will air on television channel CW44.
The PSA will be aired during the following times:
Monday through Friday – 6-7 a.m., 4-6 p.m., 10 p.m. – 2 a.m.
Saturday: Noon-5 p.m. (during college football)
Saturday and Sunday: 5 p.m. – 12 a.m.
