Rehabilitation Gym
Helping patients improve motor function, flexibility, balance, strength and endurance is the inspiration behind our state-of-the-art gym and the therapists who work closely with patient. Our services extend beyond general therapies to include additional programs:
- 6,000 square foot facility with professional grade equipment
- HydroWorx therapeutic pool
- gait and balance analysis
- pilates training evaluation and routine development
- ongoing exercise program after therapy is complete
HydroWorx Therapeutic Pool
Using the principle of buoyancy to make exercise easier and less painful, aquatic therapy has been shown to provide tremendous benefits when paired with traditional land-based therapy in treating certain conditions. Even patients who have had difficulty with other therapies often show tremendous improvement with treatment in our HydroWorx warm-water pool, featuring an underwater treadmill, resistance jets and pulsating massage hose. Whether it’s optimal recovery from joint replacement, rehabilitation from illness or improving endurance, our aquatic therapy program with a certified aquatic therapist is proving beneficial for reducing pain and relaxing muscles while undergoing the necessary exercises for recovery.
Hand Therapy
The loss of hand function due to injury or illness can have a devastating effect on a person’s life. Our hand specialist has additional training and specialized skills in the assessment and treatment of hand dysfunction to better promote restoration of hand use. The intricate anatomy of the arm and hand often requires very delicate surgery which necessitates a high level of competence and advanced therapeutic techniques, which is exactly what you’ll find at LRMC.
Speech and Vocal Therapy
For patients with neurological communication and swallowing disorders caused by disease, stroke or other neurological event, we offer a highly specialized speech language program. Our program is focused on identifying and treating problems that can include:
- swallowing disorders
- vocal dysfunction
- vocal misuse disorders
- speech-language impairments
- cognitive impairments
- changes in breathing patterns/support
- stuttering/dysfluency
Our speech therapist has special voice training and provides individualized strategies while working closely with families to achieve the highest level of functional independence, increasing safety, and selecting appropriate communication systems.
Lymphedema Therapy
People who have undergone lymph node removal, traumatic injury or burns cam be at risk for lymphedema or swelling caused by the abnormal buildup of fluid, which can result in a feeling of heaviness and a decline in mobility. Venous insufficiency caused by cardiac conditions, diabetes and obesity can also lead to lymphedema. LRMC’s Lymphedema Clinic offers the specialized skill and knowledge of our licensed physical and occupational therapists. Our program helps patients and their families reduce the effects of lymphedema and better manage this chronic condition, ultimately improving quality of life.
