Community Outreach
Lakeland Regional Medical Center recognizes the importance of our role in contributing to the health and well-being of the community. One means of receiving community input and feedback is LRMC’s Community Counselor program. This group of about 35 community leaders meets on a regular basis with members of the hospital board and administration to share information, thoughts or concerns. Community Counselor programs focus on such topics as hospital finances, Lakeland Regional Cancer Center and advances in cardiac care.
Community Education is one way that we reach out to meet specific informational needs of the public. We offer free community education programs monthly on a variety of health and well-being topics, free depression screenings and numerous support groups and classes to address specific health and wellness issues. Our Senior Care program, which serves senior citizens who register free of charge, has grown to over 7,500 members. Members receive special mailings and invitations to educational programs especially for seniors, as well as the opportunity to receive free flu and pneumonia vaccines.
The hospital and its employees also participate in a number of community organizations and activities, such as Lakeland Metro Vision, United Way of Central Florida, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, the Lakeland Area Chamber of Commerce and Partners in Crisis, among others.
